It's just over two weeks until Christmas. Why does this time of year always fly by so fast? I love the decorations and music of the season and before I barely have time to enjoy it, it's gone.
I'm still in Arizona at the moment, but will return to Colorado to spend Christmas with my family. The Rattlers, a kitchen band here at the park, has their Christmas Concert on Thursday and it's straight home after that. We sing several old holiday songs and get the audience to participate. We're even doing a short skit of The Night Before Christmas that I somehow ended up directing. It's going to be a hoot!
I'm staying busy here at Golden Vista, which is one of things I love about it. Besides the usual activities, I went on a paddleboat cruise with my husband and son while they were here for Thanksgiving and another lake cruise featuring a Beach Boys-type band. Both events were fun and we got to see eagles and mountain goats on one.
Last weekend, my friend, Melanie and I joined another friend in a baking extravaganza for three days. We made ugly sweater cookies, sugar cookies with lots of buttercream frosting, peppermint chocolate crinkle cookies and brownies. In addition, we made some toffee bars--with homemade toffee (now that was an experience--took us three times to get it right <g>). Now to include them in my goodie gifts.
Last night we went to see the lights at the Mesa Temple. How magnificent! They also featured a collection of nativities from across the world, which were unique and beautiful.
Have a wonderful holiday season and enjoy your free copy of A Christmas Catch. I'll see you next month!
